The ceremony was held at the residence of the welfare body's advisor, Awg Hj Umarali bin Esong at No10 Kg Kiudang, Tutong.

The ceremony began with the mass recital of surah al-Fatihah, which was followed by opening remarks by Awg Hj Abd Rahim.
The highlight of the gathering was a religious talk.
Prior to the ceremony, BASKIM held an al-Quran reading class for Muslim converts in the village, one of the weekly activities organised by BASKIM.
After the ceremony, in the afternoon, BASKIM members also held their annual general meeting (AGM).
According to BASKIM, the association was established to support the initiatives of the Islamic Dakwah Centre. In 2005, new Muslim converts held a meeting to discuss the creation of BASKIM at the home of the holder of the "Tokoh Bakti Hijrah", Awg Hj Umarali bin Esong.
Today, BASKIM works closely with the Tutong Association of New Muslim Converts (PESATU).
BASKIM has been very active in propagating Islam and holding religious ceremonies to that effect. Activities include Maulud Nabi or the birthday anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), New Hijrah Celebration, Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Aidiladha.
The welfare body is one of the village-level groupings that embrace ICT technology, using social network applications such as Facebook and dedicated Websites to serve its purpose.
Some village residents yesterday told the Bulletin that they are also looking to introduce "local herbal planting" among residents to support the country's "One Village, One Product" concept. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
