This Monday Issue Plant Healer Coming
To those who think we might be a little on the crazy side for doing such a thing, please understand that we had no intention of producing a 185 page magazine this issue or any other… and we really consider anything over 150 8.5 x 11 pages to be a book. Fact is, we originally intended to set the length of Plant Healer at either 90 or 100 pages max, to limit the absurd number of hours required for for design and production, and to ensure that we always have enough quality material to completely fill it.
What we couldn’t anticipate was getting more amazing submissions than we could ever fit into a single issue, and from so many of the very best of herbal writers, artists, teachers and practitioners. Nor did we realize Plant Healer would have to expand to 24 departments and columns before beginning to cover all the essential topics of traditional herbalism.
Thus the result – only just now finished – is a full color Issue#2 that is indeed a huge 185 pages in length, offering what we trust you’ll find to be an unparalleled depth and diversity of ideas, skills and tools, with art and photography once again contributing to its characteristic aesthetic, experiential, folky, tribal feel.
Issue#2 features great new quarterly columns by Matthew Wood and Jim McDonald, 3 pieces by Kiva Rose from her upcoming book, a new Four Humors page of parodies and jokes, and 11 printable art posters including 4 from the Diversity in Herbalism and new Improbable Magazine Covers series… along with more plant profiles, diagnostics and energetics, and inspiration to rethink and re-create the language of our reemerging culture of herbalism.
